Sharla Cheung to tie the knot next year
Veteran Hong Kong actress Sharla Cheung, who has been living in Beijing since she left showbiz nine years ago, has shared that she will wed her boyfriend, broker Liu Yonghui, next year.
Sharla, 44, faded away from the entertainment industry after she started dating Yonghui in 2003. She left her previously glitzy entertainment life and settled down quietly in Beijing, where she runs a beauty company.
Sharla, who was seen in Beijing recently, confirmed the marriage rumours, saying, "I'm living well and found someone to love. I haven't gotten married yet – some say that I tied the knot in 2005, but I have never gotten married." She disclosed that the ceremony will be held in Beijing and "won't be high profile", hinting that she will not hold a similar ceremony in Hong Kong.
With regards to her soon-to-be hubby, Sharla gushed, "He treats me and my family members very well, I feel that I'll find happiness by spending the rest of my life with him." She praised him, saying that Yonghui "has almost all of the good traits that men should have", then candidly adding that she is getting older and wishes to have children soon.
Asked if there was a possibility of her returning to the small screen, Sharla replied, "If I come across a good script now, I will consider going back to being an actress."
