The Creators Project is back in town on September 8-9 at UCCA, headlined by a DJ set from James Murphy and Pat Manhoney (follwing an afternoon screening of LCD Soundsystem’s farewell gig documentary Shut Up And Play The Hits on Sep 8), as well as a series of live band performances and art exhibitions. The brainchild of indy youth magazine Vice, this roving festival brings two-day events to cities across the world (from San Francisco to Paris, San Paulo to Beijing and Seoul), showcasing music, art, fashion, film, and a healthy dose of futuristic interactive installations.
Besides the late-night DJ set from Murphy and Mahoney, live bands will also perform on Saturday 8, from 8pm. So far confirmed line-up includes New Jersey indies Real Estate, Portland synthpoppers Chromatics, Shanghai experimental rockers Duck Fight Goose, and Beijing’s own acid-electro group CNdY as well as electronic duo FM3.

Beijingers: Don’t miss this one. Running from September 8-9 at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art(UCCA), the Creators Project makes its triumphant return to the Chinese capital with a two-day-long explosion of rock ‘n roll, film, fashion and art. Headlined by former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy, who will be DJing a Saturday set following a screening of the LCD Soundsystem documentary “Shut Up and Play the Hits,” the event will feature an impressive lineup of international and Chinese musical acts, from New Jersey’sReal Estate and Portland’s Chromatics to the legendary Beijing electronic group FM3 and Shanghai rockersDuck Fight Goose.

The event will also feature a grab-bag of arts and fashion debuts, from Chris Milk‘s The Treachery of Sanctuary and SuperUber’s OctoCloud to the new fashion line by Beijing designer (and Jing Daily favorite) Vega Zaishi Wang, presented in collaboration with UFO Media Lab with music by Zhang Shouwang of Carsick Cars fame. New work will also be shown by Shanghai-based artist B6 and painter Kong Lingnan, Yang Yongliang and the winners of the Creators Project’s Beijing Hackathon 2012.
