The Black Eyed Peas star and his close friend Cheryl Cole were pictured with bloodied noses after the crash, which happened in Los Angeles at 3.30am yesterday (29.08.12).

Onlookers said will's injury was the result of him being hit by an inflating airbag on the driver's side, while no safety system appeared to have been triggered on Cheryl's side.

A witness told The Sun newspaper: ''Both seemed shaken but were checking each other over.

''They both had nose bleeds and at least one of the airbags had deployed.

''Police soon arrived and everyone was told to move back. It was only when will.i.am stepped out I realised who he was and that the passenger was Cheryl. will.i.am's main concern was Cheryl.''

The 'Boom Boom Pow' star was taken to nearby Los Angeles Cedars-Sinai hospital, and later left wearing a neckbrace, while his pal was treated at the scene of the accident.

The parked car - which was empty - was badly damaged in the altercation.

Both will and Cheryl later took to twitter to reassure fans they were fine.

will tweeted: ''Car accidents are not dope ... I'm glad I'm o.k #wiplash.

''We're fine ...@Cheryl Cole were coming back from the studio but she and I are fine ... just a little #wiplash (sic).''

Cheryl added: ''Don't worry me and @iamwill are fine, promise.''

The 'American Idol' producer - who is also a judge on 'So You Think You Can Dance' - is planning a reimagining of the classic TV series, which followed the students of the New York City High School of Performing Arts, but set in the present day.

The original show followed on from the 1980 film of the same name, and Nigel is partnering with MGM TV to create the project.

In a statement, he said: ''In my lifetime, I've discovered a great many incredibly talented individuals - some have achieved stardom.

''Simultaneously, I've seen many dreams shattered, egos destroyed and lives changed forever. The end destination may well be fame and fortune, but the road to stardom is littered with broken hearts.

''I look forward to stripping away the glitter and glamour and revealing the true mixture of passion, humanity, exhaustion and sacrifice that these richly talented individuals endure on their road to fame.''

The original show began in 1982 and ran for five seasons.

A remake of the film was released in 2009 but only received minimal success, taking $22m at the box office in the US.

Music mogul Simon Cowell has been hailed a hero after rescuing nine people from a sinking yacht in St Tropez.

Simon Cowell rescued nine people stranded at sea yesterday (29.08.12).

The 52-year-old music mogul came to the aid of passengers on a sinking yacht off the South of France coast after receiving a May Day distress call.

The 'X Factor' boss - who was holidaying with his ex-girlfriend Sinitta in St. Tropez - ordered the captain and crew of his private vessel to stage a rescue mission and bring the passengers back to his luxury boat.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: ''He only did what any good person would do.

''If his yacht was in trouble he would want someone to come to his rescue. It was just lucky they happened to be close by.''

Simon sent out a smaller boat to ferry them across and his staff helped pump water out of the stranded vessel, called Slipstream.

Sinitta updated fans with a detailed account of the recue mission, writing on twitter: ''Just had a mayday message, 35ft boat sinking. Simon has sent us to help and rescue 9 people on board!''

She later added: ''Everyone ok, no-one hurt. Captain won't let boat sink, petrol in sea etc. No tide, so hole plugged!''

Simon previously came to the rescue of a stranded father-to-be in February by giving him a lift in his private jet so he could witness the birth of his first child.

The Muse rocker ''got his hands dirty'' at the birth of Bingham in July 2011, even though his fiancee Kate Hudson - who has eight-year-old son Ryder from a previous marriage to Chris Robinson - didn't want him to be so close during her labour.

Matt told Q magazine: ''Oh yeah, I was there at the birth. I was watching the whole thing. I was holding her leg up when she pushed him out. She didn't want me to watch but I was in there, getting my hands dirty, so to speak.''

The 34-year-old singer also admitted joining the band when he was a teenager stopped him from going off the rails.

He said: ''My teenage years were pretty chaotic. By 17, 18, I was living with a close friend, who became a drug dealer and went to prison.

''Looking back, I was very close to slipping down that road. Being in the band was very cathartic for me.''

And the 'Survival' hitmaker says he feels more at ease on stage than anywhere else.

He said: ''I actually feel more relaxed on stage than anywhere else. There's so much kerfuffle and faff building up to it but then you just let your hair down and enjoy it.''

Michael Jackson's fans held a vigil outside his childhood home yesterday (29.08.12) on what would have been his 54th birthday.

Many supporters flocked to the late singer's boyhood home in Gary, Indiana, to pay tribute to their idol, who died in June 2009 from acute Propofol intoxication.

They were dancing outside to Michael's music until his eldest two children, Prince Michael, 15, and 14-year-old Paris arrived, when they started forming around them to get their memorabilia autographed.

Paris then tweeted a photo of the crowd and wrote: ''you guys are amazing!!! (sic)''

Reverend Jesse Jackson also showed up at the tribute, stopping in the crowd before the vigil to pose for a photo with a Michael Jackson impersonator.

Before the vigil, Paris and Prince were given blue 'Team Gary' T-shirts by Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson as they posed for pictures at a casino overlooking Lake Michigan.

Paris later told fans: ''We just want you to know how much he meant to us and the city of Gary.''

Prince and Paris are in Gary for four days with their brother and Blanket, 10, aunt La Toya Jackson and the trio's co-guardians, grandmother Katherine Jackson and their cousin TJ Jackson.

Karen Freeman-Wilson, the Mayor of Gary, will host a special dinner tonight (31.08.12) to commemorate the life of the King of Pop as well as honour Michael's mother Katherine, and a tribute concert will take place tomorrow (31.08.12) at the local West Side Theatre Guild.

Michael's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray is currently serving a jail sentence for the singer's involuntary manslaughter.

Jessica Biel believes her relationship with Justin Timberlake is ''impressive''.

The 30-year-old actress - who is engaged to the singer-and-actor - thinks communication is one of the most important aspects of any union and values the fact she can be so open with the 'Social Network' star.

She said: ''What do I value in a partner? Communication. Men and women speak a completely different language, so if you can communicate easily on a daily basis, that's pretty impressive. I have that with Justin.''

Despite being happy with Justin, Jessica does have some regrets, including the fact she did not finish college.

She told Grazia magazine: ''I wish I had graduated college. I regret not spending time with my peer group, because at the time I had been working with adults for so long.

''I was being pulled in a bunch of different directions. It wasn't anybody's fault except my won. I was, like, 20, at the time, and chose to focus on acting.

''I have a great life, but if I could go back and get my college diploma and have a bit more of a social experience, I would.''

Kelly Osbourne and Kevin McHale are being targeted to host the US 'X Factor.

The 'Fashion Police' star and the 'Glee' actor impressed show chief Simon Cowell with their ''perfect chemistry'' and thinks they would make a great double act to front the talent contest.

A source said: ''Simon thinks Kelly and Kevin are unique picks, and after meeting with both of them, he believes they have perfect chemistry for co-hosting.

''He loves Kelly's sass, and thanks to 'Glee' Kevin is an accomplished talent. They bounce off each other brilliantly.''

However, Simon is still said to be considering other stars and is going over details before he makes a firm decision on who to hire.

The source told National Enquirer magazine: ''Simon is a fickle guy, and there are still kinks that have to be figured out before he's 100 per cent certain he'll hire Kelly and Kevin.''

Welsh presenter Steve Jones was fired of host of the show after just one series in a shake-up that also saw Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger - who is now a judge on the UK version of the programme - dismissed.

Their replacements on the judging panel are Britney Spears and Demi Lovato.

Actress Shannon Woodward has been growing close to the 'Twilight Saga' hunk - who was left devastated when Kristen Stewart cheated on him - and hopes the brooding actor will fall for her because she understands how it feels to go through a traumatic love split.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: ''R-Patz and Shannon have been getting really close. She's fancied him for years, but he's always been dating Kristen when their paths crossed at social events.

''She understands what Rob's going through. She split up with Andrew Garfield after he fell in love with his 'Spider-Man' co-star Emma Stone.''

''Shannon's hoping they can be more than just friends.''

Shannon's best pal Katy Perry recently enjoyed a friendly dinner date with Robert where she encouraged him to get out and have fun.

A source said: ''Last Thursday night (23.08.12), Katy and Rob met up at the Soho House in West Hollywood for a bite to eat. They are close friends and can just be themselves when they are with each other.

Russell Brand and Geri Halliwell have bonded over their healthy lifestyles.

While the couple - who began dating after performing at the Olympics Closing Ceremony earlier this month - love doing yoga together, they also share a common goal of clean living following years of partying.

A source told RadarOnline: ''Russell and Geri bonded over the fact that there's more to life than drinking.

''Back in the 90s the pair partied for England. Their drunken escapades were well documented and there wasn't a day where they weren't pictured staggering out of a hip London venue. But now they like nothing more than shunning the fancy clubs and bars.

''They have cleaned up their lifestyles, both are avid Yogis and don't touch a drop of alcohol.

''Geri has her six-year-old daughter Bluebell to consider, while Russell has been sober for almost 10 years and has risen to the top clean and knows if he did drink he would be right back where he started.''

Friends of Russell claim one of the reasons his marriage to Katy Perry failed was because she enjoys partying and he found it difficult to be surrounded by those who didn't share his healthy lifestyle.

The source added: ''That was why it was so tough for him when he was married to Katy. He would avoid any after-parties because he didn't want to be surrounded by people who were drinking around him.

''Russell and Geri are at the same place with their lives and they want to settle and enjoy themselves.''

''They have booked a birthing suite at the unit and are really happy after meeting all the staff.''

Although Robbie moved to America in 2004, he recently arranged for his heavily pregnant spouse to fly back by private jet to the UK so their daughter can be born in London.

A source explained: ''Robbie has always planned for his baby to be born in Britain, it's really important to him. He moved to America to enjoy the lifestyle, anonymity and climate but his heart still belongs in the UK.

The 'Toxic' singer - who joined the panel of the reality TV show as a judge this year alongside Demi Lovato, Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid - has reportedly told producers she doesn't want any attractive women working backstage while she is on the show as they make her feel insecure.

Britney recently claimed she is a ''very subtle'' 'X Factor' judge and tries to be constructive in her advice for the auditionees.

She said in a promo clip for the show: ''So far everything has been so fun for all of us.

''Everything is like a new experience for me, so it's a lot of fun and the talent has been amazing.

''I feel like my judging style is very subtle. I try to use constructive criticism.''

The 'Little Britain' star and his model wife Lara Stone invited some of their closest friends to a special screening of James Bond movie 'The Spy Who Loved Me' at the British Film Institute (BFI) in London before whisking them off to dinner at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant in The Savoy.

Guests were served martinis followed by a traditional British, three-course supper and while Russell was said to be in high spirits, there was no sign of his latest romantic conquest Geri Halliwell.

David posted a picture of himself with Russell and Jimmy on twitter with the caption ''Birthday party fun''.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''David held a drinks celebration for his friends in the BFI atrium, shortly before going on stage and introducing the film.

''He also played the audience a special clip featuring himself and Roger Moore which was the talk of the evening.

''After the screening, David and Lara had arranged for cars to transport their guests to the hotel.

''They were then whisked into the sectioned-off bar and treated to cocktails and champagne.''

Pals revealed David chose the themed bash because he is such a huge fan of the fictional spy.

''They were very calm and carrying on a regular dinner conversation. Jennifer had a big smile on her face. She and Justin both looked very happy.''

The restaurant holds special memories for the happy couple as it is the same place where they were first spotted together publicly, enjoying a romantic dinner together in May 2011.

Meanwhile, Jennifer, 43, is said to be ''overwhelmed'' by her eight carat diamond engagement ring.

A source recently said: ''It's a huge emerald-cut diamond. It's a rectangle with tapered diamond baguettes on the sides. It's beautiful.

Indian film director Mira Nair poses on the red carpet of her movie "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" at the 69th Venice Film Festival August 29, 2012.[Photo/Agencies]

The 69th Venice Film Festival opened here on Wednesday with Venice-regular Indian director Mira Nair's political thriller which explores life changes of a young Pakistani man rising through the ranks on Wall Street in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

"The Reluctant Fundamentalist" was chosen to "highlight the growing role of female creativity in all spheres of culture and contemporary society," said Alberto Barbera, the director of this year's Venice Film Festival.

Female influence is an important theme of the festival, during which people will see multiple activities to promote awareness on female contribution to world cinema.

Nevertheless, Nair's movie has a lot more to offer.

"I made the movie to promote dialogue between West and East, and I hope it will help to break the wall between different cultures, races and religions,"said Nair at the press conference before the opening of the event.

"For myself, I felt equal intimacy to both cultures," said the director who has lived in New York for many years.

The movie, adapted from a very popular book of the same tile, would "provide much food for thought," said Barbera.

The Lido island, where the event is staged, is now in a buzz with well-known directors, actors and actress.

However, big-names like George Clooney, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp did not appear in the red carpet show in the evening as past years. The organizers seem to be focusing more on the discovery of new faces, which they hope will shot to stardom from Venice, a tradition the festival is long proud of.

This year's festival will feature 18 movies in the competition rounds, with dozens more appearing in out-of-competition and Horizon sessions.

No Chinese film will enter this year's competition session. Barbera cited many reasons, saying it is impossible for all countries in the world to appear in the competition list, although he admitted that China had a"great" film industry.

"I'm sure that next year, Chinese movies will come in competition," he said.

Kim Kardashian has settled a lawsuit against Old Navy claiming the clothing retailer violated her publicity rights by using a lookalike in an ad.

Kardashian sued over the spot in July 2011, claiming the company's use of a model who looked like her might confuse consumers about her actual endorsements, which include a clothing store and shoe line.

No details about the settlement were filed with the court.

"The lawsuit was resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties," the two sides said in a joint statement.

The lawsuit was over a commercial titled "Super C-U-T-E," which featured Canadian singer-model Melissa Molinaro. The ad began airing in February 2011 and was still being used in some of the company's promotions months later, Kardashian's lawsuit stated.

An attorney for Old Navy said at a January hearing that Molinaro was famous in her own right and her appearance in the ad wasn't intended to draw similarities to the reality TV starlet.

Kardashian's attorney Gary Hecker contended that some news outlets and Twitter users noted similarities in the women's appearances.

Kardashian, 31, was seeking unspecified damages and an order barring Old Navy from using a lookalike model again.

Fall brings colder weather across the Northern Hemisphere and Hollywood's major studios will usher into theaters cool action thrillers, chilly horror movies and some dramatic Oscar hopefuls looking for a head start on awards season.

Related: Summer movie misfires drag on box office

From new James Bond flick "Skyfall" to another scary "Paranormal" installment and the long-awaited Paul Thomas Anderson Scientology drama, "The Master," there is plenty for cinephiles to dissect in the season, which begins after this weekend's US Labor Day holiday and runs roughly to Thanksgiving.

The pace of movies is slower than the US summer when the studios bring out blockbusters like "The Avengers" and "The Dark Knight Rises" weekly. But don't let the pace fool you; fall 2012 is neither short on quality nor quantity, experts say.

"Early fall can often be a little bit of a lull at the movies, but it can also be a time when real quality films can take advantage of a quiet marketplace and really stand out," Entertainment Weekly writer Dave Karger said.

The season kicks into high gear on September 21, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena playing Los Angeles police battling a ruthless drug cartel in "End of Watch," from writer/director David Ayer.

Ayer, whose previous LA cop flick, "Training Day," earned Denzel Washington a best actor Oscar, said the film shows "what it's like to work the streets in a way very few films have ever shown," pulling back the curtain on the cops' lives, personal and professional.

"It's not your typical Hollywood movie. It's very grounded, very real - almost a pseudo documentary. You'll walk out of this movie wanting to hug a cop," he said.

Guns continue to blaze on September 28 when Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt play the same person - only 30-years apart - in the time-travel flick "Looper" about assassins killing targets sent back from the future.

Liam Neeson is back as the CIA-trained, overly protective father in "Taken 2" (October 5) when the kidnappers who swiped his daughter in the first "Taken" movie return for revenge.

The best-selling Alex Cross crime novels get a reboot with Tyler Perry taking the lead role previously inhabited by Morgan Freeman in "Alex Cross" (Oct 19). This time, the detective psychologist takes on a hitman played by Matthew Fox.

On October 12, crime takes a comedic edge in "Seven Psychopaths," about a screenwriter (Colin Farrell) who gets involved in the Los Angeles underworld when his dog-snatching friend (Sam Rockwell) makes the mistake of kidnapping a Shih Tzu belonging to a crime boss (Woody Harrelson).

The season ends with a bang as the highly anticipated "Skyfall" comes out on November 9, amid a celebration of 50 years of Bond movies. This time around, Daniel Craig takes his third turn as 007 with Oscar-winning filmmaker Sam Mendes at the helm of the movie and Javier Bardem as the villain, Silva.

    HALLOWEEN HAUNTS & OSCAR BAIT

Fall is long on horror as the studios play to fears ahead of Halloween. On September 21, Jennifer Lawrence finds herself haunted in "The House at the End of the Street". On October 5, a ghostly entity threatens Ethan Hawke and his family in "Sinister".

If that's not enough haunted house-themed flicks, the hugely popular franchise "Paranormal Activity 4" returns on October 19.

For family frights, animated "Hotel Transylvania" (September 28) stars Adam Sandler as a hotelier to non-humans whose world turns upside down when an overexcited human shows up. And Tim Burton brings his usual ghoulish charm to the screen with the stop-motion animated "Frankenweenie" (October 5) about a young boy who resurrects his late dog, Sparky. Arf!

Then, there is the Oscar race. In recent years, as Academy Award organizers moved their top film honors up by a month, to February from late March, the studios have been bringing more award hopefuls to theaters in September and October.

Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" is creating Oscar buzz prior to its September 14 release. Set in the 1950s, the movie tells of a damaged alcoholic (Joaquin Phoenix) who is taken under wing by a charismatic leader (Philip Seymour Hoffman) of a spiritual movement not unlike the controversial Church of Scientology.

Also getting attention is "Argo" (October 12), directed by and starring Ben Affleck. Based on real events, the movie shows a CIA specialist's mission to free six US diplomats in 1979 Iran by posing as a filmmaker and putting them among his bogus crew.

Actor John Hawkes gives a tour-de-force performance in "The Sessions" (October 26) playing a 38-year-old man who, having spent most of his life in an iron lung, decides to hire a therapeutic sex surrogate (Helen Hunt) to lose his virginity.

But Hawkes will see Oscar competition from Daniel Day Lewis starring as Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's biopic, "Lincoln" (November 9).

Fans of the filmmaking Wachowski siblings (Lana and Andy of "The Matrix" movies) will try to wrap their heads around "Cloud Atlas" (October 26), starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in different roles throughout six interwoven tales.

"'Cloud Atlas' is the complete wild card," said Entertainment Weekly's Karger. "A two and a half-plus hour movie by the Wachowskis that looks so bizarre. It's probably going to be one of the most polarizing movies of the season."

Finally, there is sport-themed documentary "The Other Dream Team" (September 28), chronicling members of the 1992 Lithuanian Olympic basketball team as they go from life behind the Iron Curtain to newfound independence - with financial assistance from the Grateful Dead.

Bobby Brown checks out of rehab early

Bobby Brown has checked out of rehab early.

The 43-year-old singer has left an undisclosed facility - where he was thought to be receiving treatment for alcohol addiction problems - less than three weeks after agreeing to be admitted as part of a deal struck following his arrest for driving under the influence (DUI) in March.

A source close to the family told RadarOnline: "Bobby is no longer in rehab, he decided he's had enough treatment for his problems.

"When he first checked in, he promised his family and friends, including his New Edition band mates, that this time he was going to stay in rehab for the full treatment. That's normally a 90-day program.

"However, after fulfilling his duties for his DUI plea deal, Bobby has decided that he doesn't need treatment anymore."

Bobby's family are now said to be "terrified" that he will start drinking again, and some are said to have questioned whether his intentions are "genuine".

The source added: "Bobby's family and friends are terrified, despite his pleas that he's sober, that he will fall off the wagon once again.

"They're not sure if he was ever serious about conquering his demons and have voiced their concerns. It's difficult to believe someone going into rehab for alcohol addiction for such a short time is genuine about giving up drinking."

Bobby's wife Alicia Etheredge recently admitted she and his children - three-year-old Cassius from the couple's relationship, 19-year-old Bobbi Kristina with late ex-wife Whitney Houston, and Landon, 23, La'Princia, 22, and Bobby Jr., 19, with previous partners - were "proud" of the singer for entering rehab.

FX is ordering 90 more episodes of "Anger Management," Charlie Sheen's TV comeback vehicle after being fired from "Two and a Half Men".

The unusually large order reflects the original agreement that FX made for the sitcom that stars Sheen as a therapist.

As part of the deal, FX set a ratings target for eight of the first 10 episodes of "Anger Management". The show reached the threshold, earning an automatic 90-episode order, the channel said.

The round figure of 100 episodes is the benchmark for series syndication, and that's the future for episodes that have shown first on FX, said producer Debmar-Mercury, a Lionsgate subsidiary.

"Anger Management" will go into syndication in September 2014, the company said Wednesday. It's a model that Debmar-Mercury used with the Ice Cube sitcom "Are We There Yet?" and on "Tyler Perry's House of Payne" and "Meet the Browns".

FX Networks executive vice president Chuck Saftler said he's confident the producers and cast will be able to produce the full order during the next two years after quickly turning out the first 10.

In July, Sheen said the prospect of continuing is as "exciting as hell," and added, "I don't think 90's gonna be enough".

FX called "Anger Management" cable's highest-rated new comedy series this year, averaging 4.5 million total viewers.

The number reflects the show's initial strong showing after its June debut, when it attracted more than 5.5 million viewers.

The show's viewership dropped to below 3 million for some later episodes and was hard-hit by the Olympics in August, averaging just under 2 million, according to Nielsen Co.

But "Anger Management" remained a healthy performer among advertiser-coveted young adult viewers, which was key to FX's decision to place the big-ticket order.

Sheen, who was replaced by Ashton Kutcher on CBS' top-rated comedy, was fired in 2011 by studio Warner Bros. Television because of his erratic personal life and public ridicule of the show's producer.

With "Anger Management," Sheen answers in part to himself with what FX has called a "significant ownership stake" in the show. Bruce Helford is the executive producer.

  • Bar Refaeli looks just as sexy as one would expect.

Bar Refaeli may have gotten the bulk of her fame when she dated Leonardo DiCaprio but I don't think that should take away from the work she's done as a model. This is a woman that is successful in her own right and I think it's important to point that out. Bar never seemed to be out to capitalize on her relationship with him. She attended events with him but she seemed to back off and let him have his moment – something I always admired about her. Many of the other women who become well known because of who they're dating take every opportunity they're given to show off their relationship and Bar never gave me that impression. Since breaking up with Leo, Bar has remained successful and I think that will continue. In these photos from Mykonos, Greece, it's pretty obvious Leo is little more than a distant memory in her mind. She has definitely moved on and good for her. I think Bar is a classy, beautiful woman and I see nothing but success in her future.
