  • Jackie Chan Promotes "Chinese Zodiac" in Beijing

Jackie Chan with actresses Yao Xingtong and Zhang Lanxin

BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) — Hong Kong action veteran Jackie Chan's "Chinese Zodiac," his 101st film in a 50-year-plus acting career, will hit cinemas in the Chinese mainland on Dec. 20, it was announced on Monday.

The film, directed by and starring Chan in the lead role, follows a fortune hunter on an action-packed quest to find busts of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals, which have been looted by foreign invaders.

Chinese Zodiac features scenes shot in Beijing, Paris, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia and Latvia, among other places, according to Chan.

"In terms of special effects, we're far behind Hollywood. We must shoot this kind of genuine martial arts film with fist-to-flesh action to compete with them," Chan said at Monday's press conference, when a new trailer for the movie was released.

The trailer revealed a sequence in which Chan rolls and ducks bullets and road obstacles while skating at a speed of more than 100 km an hour.

In response to previous reports that Chinese Zodiac will be his last picture, Chan clarified that the film will only be his last "action-packed blockbuster."

"In the future I will shoot films that don't involve fights from the start to the end. They will be more like art-house films that feature a little bit of action," Chan said.

"I'm not retiring. I just won't shoot action blockbusters anymore because I don't want to end up in a wheel chair."

  • Rocker Wang Feng to break new ground

Beijing Workers' Stadium, an iconic concert venue with a capacity of about 60,000, has never had a male singer from the Chinese mainland perform on its stage since it was built in 1959. Rock singer-songwriter Wang Feng will break the record by holding his concert, Existence, there on September 1.

"I hope my concert at Beijing Workers' Stadium will be a new starting point for Chinese rock music," says Wang.

A fan of Wang has listed some statistics of his idol online recently: In Wang's decade-long music career, the 41-year-old has released nine studio albums, 130 songs which were all written and composed by himself, 18 songs which have won Song of the Year at Chinese music awards, 10 best albums of the year, 29 citations as the best male singer from the Chinese mainland, and performance at 120 outdoor music festivals across China.

During the past three years, Wang has sold-out concerts in Beijing every year at major venues like MasterCard Center and Beijing Workers' Gymnasium. The consistent success is very rare for a Chinese rock musician. Most of them have longer gaps between releasing albums and holding concerts.

Wang calls himself a rock survivor of the country, now that many rock musicians have stopped writing songs or are semi-retired because of the sluggish market demand or personal reasons.

Wang writes songs regardless of demand because to him, songwriting is as natural as breathing. Whenever he feels happy, sad or misunderstood, he expresses his emotions through songwriting.

In the upcoming concert, he will not sing his hits such as Flying Higher, Blooming Life and In the Spring – songs that normally trigger the audiences to sing along. Instead, he will deliver songs he rarely performs on stage.

"Those songs are ignored and overshadowed by the popular songs. The audiences might not be so familiar with those songs but I want to take the risk," he says.

A Beijing native, Wang has expressed his love for the city by writing songs like Good Night Beijing, Beijing Beijing and Chang'an Avenue. Holding a concert at the iconic Beijing Workers' Stadium has also been a longtime dream for Wang.

"The venue has hosted many singers from Hong Kong and Taiwan. As a Beijing rocker, I want to be the first one to sing there, which, I hope, gives confidence to mainland rock singers and bands," he says.

At each of his concerts, he sports black leather jacket with black trousers, boots, and hair blown very high.

Wang's musician father put him through violin lessons when he was a child. Although he didn't like the instrument at first, he studied and graduated from China Music Conservatory, which made him believe in the greatness of music.

At 17, he started to listen to songs by Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Taiwan singer Luo Ta-yu, and mainland singer Cui Jian – all of them influenced his music career. In 1994, he and his friends formed a rock band, No. 43 Baojia Street, which, like many indie rock bands, experienced poverty and cold treatment.

His talent finally got recognized by Warner Music China in 1999. But, to sign up with Warner Music, he had to leave his band. It was a tough decision to make and Wang felt guilty for "betraying" his group, right up till today.

In the past decade, he has enjoyed fame and criticism. To prove himself, he pushes himself to write songs and stay updated to keep up with the new generation.

"I am fully aware of the fact that a singer-songwriter can never stay at the peak of his career forever. But what I want is for my songs to be heard and sung by many people from different generations," he says. "I want to be a driver in making rock music as widely accepted as pop music."

Kwan Chor Yiu said that he attended teh premiere, but because he was busy with a television series production he was unable to promote more. He said that two nights ago after returning to Hong Kong he rushed to attend the event, on the other hand Lin Si Nga was already promoting the film in Australia. Kwan Chor Yiu also mentioned that for the intimate scene with Lin Si Nga in the film, he actually decided to appear in his underwear without the company's approval. Because he thought the feeling would be better when he took off his jeans during the shoot, he performed in his underwear. However he believed that the company would not scold him after finding out. Speaking of Mia promising the audience that she would skinny dip to celebrate the box office success, Linah Matsuoka said that she had no idea. If she was in a good mood she might go with Mia.

  • Is JJ Jia the third party behind Louis Fan's spilt from wife?
    Posted Image
It looks like Chinese actress JJ Jia was not the third party in Hong Kong actor's Louis Fan's relationships, but the fourth.
According to Hong Kong media reports, before Louis pursued JJ, he reportedly already had a girlfriend in China and had gifted her with an apartment to win her heart.
Two days ago, the actor finally broke his silence and spoke on the matter, "I did have a girlfriend in China. At that time, I bought an apartment under her name because I wanted to mortgage it. Who knew she refused to give it back to me after we broke up! I didn't buy it to win her heart."
Louis also responded to recent rumours which claimed that he hooked up with his female assistant, saying that "there's no such thing".
However, the actor admitted that he is worried that his two children, aged 10 and 15, as well as JJ, would be affected.
Earlier, JJ declared her love for Louis at a promotional event for TVB drama Ghetto Justice II, saying, "If I don't love [him], it wouldn't be so difficult [for me] now."
Louis replied to the actress's declaration by saying, "My life rekindled with hope after I met her."
Other media reports claimed that Louis was turned away from a programme recording at the TV station because of the scandal, but the actor explained that he could not attend the recording because he had drama filming.

  • Over 90 clips of Li Zongrui''s sexual exploits leaked online
    Posted Image
More clips of disgraced Taiwanese heir Li Zongrui's sexual exploits have started circulating on the web, bringing the total number of videos to a staggering 93. After surrendering to the police on August 24, Zongrui has admitted to recording and saving a total of 27.5GB of videos and photos chronicling his sexual encounters.
He explained that his files were saved into 48 different folders, with each folder containing one to three videos and three nude photos. In total, he has 176 photos saved and his 93 videos amount to 883 minutes of footage.
Even though Zongrui has maintained that all the women in the videos were consenting adults, other reports have suggested that his modus operandi was to prowl nightclubs for potential prey before spiking their drinks and bringing them to his room. There, he would engage in intercourse with them, while a camera placed on a nearby surface, such as a computer table, would record the entire process.
As the total number of victims has risen to almost 50, it is said that there are those from the triads who are also hunting Zongrui down to 'teach him a lesson' on behalf of some of the women. The Taipei authorities have stressed that his safety will not be compromised as he is being held in a safe detention center.
The videos have been widely circulated since his surrender to the police, with numerous gossip sites and adult forums sharing the content. His videos and photos have also reportedly been shared via mobile phones and instant messaging platforms.
The police have been slammed for the leak of the photos, but have responded that those circulating are doctored and that actual content has not been compromised. This has raised the ire of citizens, reportedly calling these excuses. Veteran Taiwanese singer Emi Lee has also spoken out against the leak, expressing, "The public service is too inefficient."
