Veteran hosts left out in upcoming Golden Bell Awards
Netizens are crying foul over the nominations at the awards where veteran entertainers like Jacky Wu have been left without a nomination
It's out with the old and in with the young.
That's what netizens are crying foul over when the nomination list for the 47th annual Golden Bell Awards was released. Veteran entertainers such as Jacky Wu, Chang Fei and Chang Xiao Yan were missing from the list. In their place are lesser-known acts such as Ou Di and Sha Sha, both hosts of the same talent variety show Super Mimicry Avenue.
Netizens were appalled and criticised the judging panel for choosing the lesser-known nominees. For this year, 1686 works were listed and would battle it out for 35 award categories.
In response to the frenzy, a representative of the award show stated that the judges agreed with each other on the results and did not have much conflict with over the nominees. He also stressed that they did not purposely avoid choosing those who were more experienced in the hosting field.
The first-time nominees, were however, were elated that they were chosen. One of the nominees, Ou Di of Super Mimicry Avenue shared that he had started to prepare his outfit for the show. Producer Zhan Renxiong of the same show also expressed that he is thrilled and would spend more time on making the show better.
Previous winners like Matilda Tao who won three awards previously, and Zhuge Liang who scored two awards, chose not to be included in the nominations list in order to give newcomers a chance to win.
