Editor's Review of Ashes of Time – 6/10
On the surface Ashes of Time is an action movie about swordsmen but is more about regret, remorse and wasted opportunity. The mood created in the movie is grim and stark so if you were expecting a action packed martial arts movie or an uplifting comedy, you'd be disappointed. The plot twists and turns with multiple sub plots and shifts in time. The only reason why Ashes of Time is worth watching is due the the cinematography which is very good and the quality of the cast which are all leading Hong Kong actors and actresses.
