Rain Li’s Scandal Exposes Dark Side of Entertainment Circle

Allegations arose that Rain Li (李彩華) was asked to provide sexual services to businessmen for two weeks by her former company. Rain Li’s mother stated that her daughter never provided the sexual services, but did not explicitly reveal whether Rain was requested to do so in the past. Insiders Knew of Sexual Proposal

The dark side of entertainment circle dealings surfaced unexpectedly through a divorce battle.  Chui Suet Ying (趙雪英) claimed that her ex-husband, Universe International Chairman, Daneil Lam (林小明), had asked Rain Li to sexually service businessmen. Chui stated that Rain and her mother, who also acts as her manager, asked her to intervene in the matter. Since the issue was discussed at the Board of Directors meeting at Universe International, Chui claimed that many people knew about it.

Daneil Lam continued to deny his ex-wife’s allegations, insisting that he will sue her for slandering his reputation. Rain Li’s mother vowed to reveal the truth should Lam decide to sue Chui in court.

Lam’s daughter, Phoebe, also revealed to Sudden Weekly that Rain had mentioned that someone had asked her to sexually service clients in the past.

Rain Li’s Mother Discusses Indecent Proposal

In an interview with Commercial Radio yesterday, Rain Li’s mother stated that Rain was asked to participate in activities unrelated to her work in the performing arts field.  Rain was subsequently “frozen” by Universe International and no longer promoted, which prompted Rain to initiate an early contract termination.

Asked whether Rain was forced to provide sexual services, Rain Li’s mother stated, “Rain did not service any clients.” Asked if it was Daneil Lam who had coerced Rain, her mother stated, “I do not wish to say. Whether Rain was forced to provide the service is a different matter than whether she actually performed the act.”

Currently filming in Hengdian, Rain also reiterated her mother’s vow to testify in court should Chui Shuet Ying be sued by Daneil Lam.

Elanne Kong Does Not Believe Rain Li Scandal

Universe International Chairman, Daneil Lam (林小明), reportedly asked Rain Li (李彩華) to sexually service businessmen in mainland China. Rain Li’s mother denied that Rain had provided the sexual services, but did not deny that the indecent proposal may have occurred. Once accused of breaking up Daniel Lam’s marriage, Elanne Kong (江若琳) continued to vouch for Lam’s character and refused to believe in the rumors.

Since signing with Universe International, Elanne Kong has been rumored to be the third party in Daneil Lam’s former marriage with Chui Shuet Ying (趙雪英). In their 2008 divorce crisis, Chui admitted that she had met with Elanne to question her about her involvement with Lam. Elanne cried in a radio program and defended her own innocence. The accusations finally stopped when Chui, who served on Universe International’s Board of Directors, stated that artists were an important asset of the company and thus will not comment on their private matters.

Appearing as a guest on Big Boys Club yesterday, Elanne expressed her disbelief that Daniel Lam would have asked Rain Li to sexually service businessmen. “It could not have happened! The contract is clear that it is unnecessary to participate in activities unrelated to work,” Elanne exclaimed.

Continuing to support her boss, Elanne said, “The Mr. Lam that I know will not ask artists to do such things. At celebration events, when people that I do not know well force me to drink, Mr. Lam will ask my manager to take me home.”

Rain Li Forced to Provide Sexual Services?

Was Rain Li (李彩華) forced to provide sexual services to businessmen by her former company? The wild claims were made by Chiu Suet Ying (趙雪英), the ex-wife of Universal International Chairman, Daneil Lam (林小明). Chiu claimed that Lam had forced Rain to service the men while she was a contracted artist. Rain has issued a press statement denying that she was coerced to provide sexual services.

Ugly Divorce Battle

Chiu Suet Ying and Daneil Lam are currently in an ugly divorce battle, in which accusations have been thrown across the court room. Chiu is suing Lam for breach of promise over the rightful ownership and use of two vehicles, in which she is suing for compensatory fees.

To illustrate her husband’s character, Chiu also cited that former Universal International artist, Rain Li, had complained to her that Lam forced her to provide sexual services to businessmen. Chiu claimed that one of the terms in her divorce settlement included the termination of Rain Li’s contract.

Lam was uncertain why Chiu wished to slander his reputation, by dragging in Rain Li into their divorce battle. Lam claimed that it was not the first time Chiu had blown issues out of proportion. “She wishes to tie the incident to an actress, inducing a larger press reaction.” Lam maintained that he will sue Chiu to preserve his reputation.

Chiu dared her ex-husband to sue her. She persisted in her claims, “You can ask Rain Li and her mother. When I had discussed the divorce terms, Rain rejected Lam’s indecent proposal and begged me for help.”

Rain Li Issues Press Statement

Rain Li and her mother, who also acts as her manager, issued the following press statement to deny that Rain was forced to provide sexual services to businessmen:

(1) Rain Li terminated her contractual obligations with Universe International in mid-2010. The recent litigation between Daneil Lam and Chiu Suet Ying subjected Rain Li to be innocently implicated in rumors that damage her image and career.

(2) Since Rain Li’s debut, she insisted on the healthy and positive development of her career track, enabling today’s achievements. In her management contract with Universe International, she had also included a clause stating “refusal to attend any unrelated events to her performing arts work.” The report of providing sexual services is a serious misrepresentation. She stated to reject any form of the unspoken rules of the performing arts circle at any time. She did not fight, wrangle, nor win. She only wishes to live a simple life and work happily.

(3) She demands an end to the false reports and will use the law as a weapon to maintain her personal reputation.
