  • Kate Tsui takes the Baton in April, pairs with Dayo Wong in new TVB Series
It has been widely rumored Dayo Wong will be back to shoot a TVB series this year, aside from the opportunity to work with his You're Hired! partner Charmaine Sheh again, producer Tsui Wing Hong also had intentions tho shoot a sequel to 2000's popular sitcom War of Genders with Dodo Cheng. However, it was understood Dayo is actually returning to TVB in April for producer Man Wai Hung's new modern comedy series. The female leads are Kate Tsui and Sharon Chan. Dayo will continue his light-hearted and humorous acting style in the new series. The other cast includes comedian Louis Yuen, Benz Hui, Jazz Lam, "Siu Bo" May Chan and Elena Kong.
Producer Man Wai Hung previously worked on You're Hired! with Dayo, yesterday he accepted a telephone interview and when asked if he has intentions to bring Dayo and Charmaine back to 'continue their fate'? Producer Man frankly expressed: "We really wanted to get Charmaine back, but she couldn't make it work on her schedule." As for Dayo making his comeback, does he have any special requests or opinions? He said: "He's very nice, we had pleasant discussions. Earlier Dayo was busy with his comedy show world tour, but now we are planning the concept, story and direction of the series together."
Kate Tsui, who is paired up with Dayo in the series, expressed she cannot describe how happy she is. She said: "I have many friends who are Dayo fans. I believe after the news comes out, my friends will be visiting us on the set all the time. However, I'm still listening to the story and haven't seen Dayo yet." Reporters teased she replaced Charmaine, she said: "Impossible, how am I qualified? But having this opportunity, I will definitely give it my greatest effort." Kate expressed she knows Dayo is a very serious artist and most of his series have been highly rated and well acclaimed, so she's feeling stressed and nervous.
The other female lead, Sharon Chan, frankly expressed she greatly admires Dayo's talent and really looks forward to work ! with him. In the series, Sharon plays Kate's good friend, but has a crush on Dayo. They'll end up in a complicated love triangle. She said: "I watch Dayo's stand-up comedy shows! (Do you have a romantic storyline with him?) My role has a small crush on him, it's the misunderstanding type.. He plays my boss and enthusiastically tries to change me, making me turn from someone lacking self-confidence to a successful person. So, I thought he liked me."

  • Ben Wong Takes the Lead, No Fear Wong Cho Lam stealing screen time

Yesterday Ben Wong and the Inbound Troubles cast Wong Cho Lam, Joey Meng, Louis Cheung, Bob Lam and Siu Bo (May Chan) attended the costume fitting for TVB new series Food for Slaves (tentative). When asked about the same 'Inbound' cast? Wong Cho Lam expressed: "No, its just a fourth of us, already have some chemistry, but we will strive to break this small circle up and maintain good terms. If Joey and I want to be situated at TVB, cannot rely on us, must include others as well."
Earlier, it was rumored a producer disliked Wong Cho Lam stepping over the line on his behind-the-scenes work. Cho Lam made it clear Food for Slaves has nothing to do with him, he is purely an actor this time. He did not participate in the script or casting at all. Cho Lam laughed: "Getting so much gossip isn't enough? I have to do what is told this time, I'm just the actor." For this series, it is necessary for Cho Lam to get his head shaved and he'll even share his bald look on Weibo. Wonder what his girlfriend Leanne Li would think of his bald look?
Joey said she asked the producer if her role is another 'middle-aged woman', she laughed: "The producer said my role is a 25-26 year old girl and that I'll be forced to marry Wong Cho Lam. Don't say I'm a middle-aged woman again."
As seen in the Food for Slaves sales presentation, Raymond Lam, played the emperor, but Ben Wong eventually replaced him. When asked if this is Ben's first leading role? Ben expressed he had a leading role in the 1997 series Triumph Over Evil before and is grateful that he ran into this opportunity again. Does Ben wish to get the 'My Favorite Male Character' award this year? Ben laughed he does not know when this series will be airing, but he will cherish the opportunity. He revealed he'll have many scenes opposite of Wong Cho Lam, but is not afraid he'll steal all the screen time. "We each have our own brilliance. I had always wished to collaborate with Wong Cho Lam, he's a very talented artist.! "
Also, yesterday Yahoo! Asia Buzz Awards announced the voting results from November 2012 - February 2013. Wong Cho Lam and Joey Meng made it in 2nd place; 'Jackie Chan's Protest Restriction' in 4th place; HK Chief Executive CY Leung ranked 8th place; 'When Heaven Burns Re-run' in 10th place.

  • TVB Foolishly gave MCI 2nd Runner-Up Carat Cheung wrong Tiara with more diamonds

Yesterday the Miss Chinese International 2013 winners Glora Tang, Denise Tan and Carat Cheung attended a sponsored event. A few days ago, a Netizen with sharp eyes spotted on the night of the MCI finals, second runner-up Carat's tiara had an extra ring of diamonds compared to first runner-up Denise's tiara. There is speculation that TVB foolishly gave out the wrong tiara. Yesterday it was seen Carat had 2 rings of diamonds on her tiara, Denise had 1 ring and the winner Glora Tang had 3 rings. Indeed, there appears to be a mistake. However, Carat and Denise insisted that the event organizers did not make a mistake and expressed the first runner-up tiara is a bigger size. Carat said: "We compared the tiaras, the first runner-up has bigger rings! (Your tiara had more diamonds on it?) No, the first runner-up has a bigger ring, and should have more diamonds!" Denise does not mind her tiara has one less ring of diamonds, nor does she know how its calculated, but she believes the event organizers won't make a mistake. The girls expressed the tiaras they put on were just stage props and they won't get the actual ones until March.
Reporters contacted TVB Director of Foreign Affairs Mr. Tsang Sing Ming to confirm. He expressed TVB are currently looking into the issue with the variety show department. The jeweler is currently rushing to get the actual tiaras done.

The annual Emperor Entertainment New Spring group visit two nights ago took place. Nicholas Tse Ting Fung, Joey Yung Cho Yi, Leo Ku Kui Ke, Twins and Chapman To Man Jat who just finished his solo talk show along with boss Albert Yeung Sau Sing attended. Because they were all busy on their own during the New Spring holiday, they met for the first time two nights ago and wished everyone a Happy New Year.

They also took photos with each others but they did not have any prop. They all borrowed laisee from Mr. Yeung for props. When Mr. Yeung took out a stack of shiny gold laisee, they immediately fought of it. After the photos, they did not return to laisee to the boss. Mr. Yeung was very generous and said that the most important in the New Year was for everyone to be happy.

Stepping into the Year of the Snake artists all have their new projects. Joey will perform a cross year concert at the end of the year at the Hong Kong Coliseum for the first time. Joey was not only excited but also began the preparation. She planned to take time off and study "dance" overseas.

Other artists this year will join film pr! oductions, like Ting Fung, Twins, Ah Jat and Gei Jai who rarely participated in film. Ting Fung and Gei Jai had many scripts in their hands. Twins this year will also work separately. Charlene Choi Cheuk Yin will perform in a large scale program in Shanghai, while Gillian Chung Yun Tung will work on her new film in Beijing. The busiest had to be To Man Jat, who thought after his solo talk show could have a few days off to rest but actually already had several movies waiting for him. No wonder he often complained about no holiday.

  • Tony Won't Film 1905 - Japanese Film Company Announces Bankruptcy

Last September it was announced that Tony Leung would have a chance to collaborate with Maeda Atsuko on a joint Chinese-Japanese film titled 1905. With the escalation of anti-Japanese sentiments in China over territorial issues of the Diaoyu/Senkaku Islands, Tony was highly criticized by netizens who wished for him to drop out from the project. At that time, Tony's management company clarified that he had not formally signed on for the film. Tony's wife Carina Lau also said that he would postpone the film indefinitely. It seems plans for the movie were already over before it began. Yesterday there was news that the production company in charge of funding the film has filed for bankruptcy.
According to corporate credit research company Teikoku DataBank, an announcement was made today revealing that Japanese production company Prenom-H has already filed for bankruptcy on the 20th to the Tokyo District Court. The company's liability was at approximately 643 million yen. Last year Prenom-H decided to film 1905 and invited both Tony Leung and Maeda Atsuko to star in the movie. The film was planned for a fall release and there were plans to shoot on location in both Taiwan and Japan. Unfortunately no one could predict how badly the situation between China and Japan deteriorated. With news of Tony dropping out of the project and the avoidable delays in production, it caused cash flow problems within the company, resulting them to declare bankruptcy.

According to Jayne Stars, together with Sunny Chan, the three of them regard each other as brothers and would frequently schedule dinners together with their family. Raymond's father-in-law John Chiang found Frankie a job in Ricky Wong's CTI station.
Recently, the two actors have been spending more time together and with their children as Frankie's new CTI drama "The Three-Sided Doctors" is facing airtime issues.
An inside source revealed, "They [Frankie and Kenix] like to have playdates with Raymond Cho and his son, who is two years older than Frankie's daughter. In fact, the children get along and play very well with one another!"
Further, Frankie had also injured his leg while filming "The Three-Sided Doctors", which left him unable to accept any new work, thus, more time to spend with his wife Kenix Kwok and his 3-year-old daughter Tania Lam Tin-yeuk.
Frankie admitted, "Since I don't have work right now, I spend all of my time with my daughter. I really treasure this quality time with her because once she grows up, everything will change. I want to work harder now and save some money for her future. We're not planning for a son right now because we want to focus on our daughter."

  • Shawn Yue breaks silence
After getting caught for travelling around London with Kary Ng, Shawn Yue has been swarmed with questions about his relationship with the pop rock singer. The actor has finally left a public message to clarify the issue, according to Asia Fanatics.

The rumour that was going viral on the internet has attracted many objections from fans and some even accused Shawn for deleting the harsh comments.
"I know that everyone really cares about me, and also really wants me to share my life and feelings with everyone. But I like to handle everything outside of work low-key. People who like me should know that, and I also hope that people respect my decision!" hinting that fans should leave his love life be.
He added, "Furthermore, I would like to tell everyone that I have not deleted any messages. Whether it is good or bad, I have not deleted a single one. Finally, thank you to friends who support me and care about me!"

The trailer yesterday was unveiled in Beijing. The video had no warm moment, instead it displayed passionate conflicts and the actors' explosive performance. Actually Yeung Choi Nei's new film depicts sexual assault.

Kwok Fu Sing and Xia Yu said that when they first heard about the subject. They were in pain and even afraid, they also worried about how Yeung Choi Nei would handle it. Once the subject scared them off. Yet after watching the film they felt fortunate that they did not miss out on this film. Sing Sing in the film asked the victim some very embarrassing questions. Xia Yu joked, "Thank you Charlie for sparing me from playing the victim."

In the film Chang Chen had to play a doctor who violated Kwai Lun-Mei. Chang Chen at first struggled with taking the! role. "I felt Kwok Fu Sing and Xia Yu stole away the good characters. 'Famous doctor commits sexual assault', is this the impression that Charlie has of me?" Chang Chen has always been known for taking his roles seriously. When he made RED CLIFF (CHET BIK) he read THREE KINGDOMS, when he made THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) he trained untl he won a top martial art prize. Yesterday he was asked whether he had to get a medical license to play the dirty doctor well. Kwok Fu Sing joked, "Did you go for the medical license to study how to commit the act?"

  • [2013.02.27] CHAPMAN TO BLASTS THE GOVERNMENT FOR ENCOURAGING STRUGGLE SESSION
    courtesy of mingpao.com

The Art Development Council organized Art Critics Prize presented the gold prize to Jia Xuanning's critic of Hong Kong film VULGARIA (DAI JOOK HEI KET); Jia Xuanning slammed the film for vilifying Mainlanders and director Pang Ho Cheung's use of garbage culture to successfully entertain the general public. The comments stirred up a lot of response. Star Chapman To Man Jat on facebook congratulated Jia Xuanning on the award and urged everyone to stop blasting "Ms. Jia". He said, "Like Mona Lisa's Smile, happy people may see that she is smiling at you. People with self pity may feel that she is laughing at you......" He pointed out that the government presented the award to her in order to encourage struggle session. Since someone was displeased with VULGARIA, he suggested a return engagement at the movies to see if anyone would support such a vulgar movie.

VULGARIA director Pang Ho Cheung online said that before the film was made, in order to convince the boss to invest in a movie that would give up on the 1.3 billion market he only took 1/3 of his salary. He said, "You think vulgarity is garbage; I feel suppressing vulgarity is the slippery slope of stripping freedom of speech and creativity. Indeed, I am just a wise ass; many with great intelligence are busy focusing on co-production films in the North." He stressed that he was not opposing co-production, but he objected to Hong Kong only having co-productions. Pang Ho Cheung's statement won a lot of online cheer.

Raymond Wong Pak Ming suppor! ted VULGARIA and thought it was entertainment and very funny. He did not feel the film deepened the China Hong Kong conflict and discriminated against Mainlanders. He said that Pang Ho Cheung made a movie that was blatantly vulgar for Hong Kongers, which did not mean that all Hong Kongers were vulgar. He also said that the film was purely entertainment to make people laugh. As for China Hong Kong co-productions they helped Hong Kong film and at the same time explored the Mainland film market. They were win-win situations.

In the film Jai Jai played the third Yang son who was silent hunk type. The film began for almost a hour before his first line; in the entire film he had 11 lines like "big brother" and "the enemies are catching up". In the film he displayed his superb equestrian skills. Jai Jai joked that during the shoot he "pushed wave" like professional jockeys and bruised his rear. Jai Jai in the past avoided costumes due to the head gears and wires as well as a lot of martial art action. After this shoot his view was completely changed.

Wu Chun as the sixth Yang son was topless already when the film opened. Jai Jai said, "Seeing Wu Chun's and Cheng Yi Kin's muscles on the set, I felt a lot of self pity and maintained a habit of going to the training room."

Cheng Yi Kin said that the newlywed life was very pleasant but he has not thought about having a baby yet. He said that he originally played the villain role, but due to Louis Koo Tin Lok's leg injury he over Koo's role instead.  Cheng Siu Chau played the father. courtesy of mingpao.com

Leon Lai Ming yesterday attended the 9th Hong Kong Entertainment Expo press conference. Speaking of online encouragement for him to reunite with Shu Qi, Lai Ming said that he would leave everyone with their own ideal picture. Whether he would remain single it would depend on fate. Currently work came first. As for VULGARIA being called cultural garbage that led to China and Hong Kong conflict, Lai Ming gave another golden quote, "You get 50,000 after slamming someone? Why wasn't I told sooner, I would've donated the 50,000 to the Community Chest. Everyone is posting online, when the timing is right not getting slammed would be better a little. You can't avoid that. Ultimately I firmly believe in my own beliefs, I haven't swindle viewers, cross colleagues and go against my conscience so I am OK." Director Ang Lee at the Oscars thanked the Taiwan government for assisting the film industry. Did he feel the Hong Kong government has provided enough assistance to the film industry? Lai Ming said that he would not ask the government, good movies naturally would have investors. The resources should be placed with the class that is powerless to protest.
  • Lee Lik Chi criticizes Journey To The West for the lack of no classic line
Director Lee Lik Chi yesterday was an instructor of ATV performing art training project. He said that he remembered where he came from. Because ATV made a low offer to him, he only took symbolic transportation cost. He said, "It's still the Lunar New Year, whatever!"
Lee Lik Chi said that he would share his experience with Stephen Chow Sing Chi, but he criticized his Lunar New Year film JOURNEY TO THE WEST: CONQUERING THE DEMONS (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN). He said, "Next time he has difficulty with dialogue, he could ask me and Tin Kai Man. The movie only has '300 Children's Songs' as a classic line. THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) had several classic lines. He has many talented people and brain trusts around him, he didn't even ask someone to think about the dialogue. He shouldn't overlook Hong Kong because he became a political consultant." He felt that JOURNEY in comparison to other class a movies was considered great, but for a Chow Sing Chi movie it was disappointing."

  • Stephen Fung as usual denies secret marriage

Stephen Fung Tak Lun and Shu Qi's rumor has always caught attention, they have even been rumored to be secretly married. Fung Tak Lun yesterday attended a "HBO GO" press conference and continued to deny the rumor as usual. "No such thing! We were rumored to go on a holiday together? We didn't either. I rarely share my love life, since I don't want to mention dating. Even in the future when I wed I might not publicize it, but right now I am really not." He said that life was happy now. During the Lunar New Year he took time and met up with friends.
Speaking of Shu Qi's new film JOURNEY TO THE WEST: CONQUERING THE DEMONS (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN), Fung Tak Lun praised it as fully entertaining. The film's director Stephen Chow Sing Chi seemed to be very fond of Shu Qi. He calmly replied, "Many people would be 'sweet' on her. Do I feel threatened by Chow Sing Chi? Some of it is film promotional technique, providing a point for everyone to write about. I too am in the film industry, so I understand it very well." As for some of the film being accused of copying from a Japanese video game, he said, "I am not certain whether it was plagiarism, but sometimes the process would be under the influence of other external elements. That's not surprising." Fung Tak Lun revealed that he is discussing a project with Hollywood. In the middle of next year he will begin his new film in Beijing. In the future his subjects will target the world market.

After 15 days it already exceeded 1 billion RMB at the box office. • Fiona Sit's Cup Size Increased, Chapman To Ridicules Her Breasts are too Big

Chapman To's three night stand-up comedy show Ka La Show (咔啦騷) ended last night. Chapman's wife Kristal Tin, good friends Edmond Pang, Natalie Tong and Derek Tsang were all there to support him. In the previous two shows, Chapman invited sexy goddesses Chrissie Chau and Dada Chan as guests to act as astronauts at his show, but last night he invited Fiona Sit, who only had an average body figure, to be his guest.
When the staff helped Fiona into the astronaut costume, there was a big surprise, it turns out Fiona's cup size went from an A cup to a C cup. Chapman suddenly started ridiculing Fiona in public: "Your neck is long and shoulders so narrow, but it's odd your 'balls' (breasts) are so big. Where can you find such a big bra in your house?" Fiona immediately refuted him: "I made a special trip to Korea to get a boob job, I borrowed the bra from my mom!" Then Chapman took Fiona and rumored boyfriend Khalil Fong to joke with, which made Fiona really embarrassed. He said: "I hope you can really 'pick up' Khalil Fong and Jaycee Chan as soon as possible! Your breasts are so big, Jaycee will definitely like you!" Later, the two continued the conversation about the past and at one point, Chapman gave Fiona a hug, but criticized her again: "I told you not to use flat things! Why is your breast so hard!" Chapman made the audience laugh nonstop.
    Makes Wife Kristal Tin Cry
Chapman also disclosed his history of being a playboy back when he still worked at ATV and frankly expressed he's grateful that his wife had been so loyal to him. Chapman concluded with a declaration of love to Kristal. He expressed to the audience, telling them not to misunderstand that a successful man means he has a lot of women, actually having just one good woman is considered successful. He hopes the men out there will be able to find their Kristal Tin, just like he did. Sitting in the audience, Kristal became so emotional, she teared up.
After the show, the couple met backstage and eng! aged in a passionate kiss, and even kissed another few times for the media to take pictures. Kristal expressed she did not know Chapman would talk about his playboy history, and frankly expressed Chapman deliberately tried hide it from her, "I went to his rehearsals, but he only rehearsed the first part of the show. Usually when he's at home reading the script, he doesn't read out loud and even puts the script under his pillow!" As for Chapman praising she's a good wife? Kristal said with teary eyes: "He placed the limelight on me. He knows how to appreciate my strengths, I feel very lucky to have married him."
Chapman expressed he does not plan to add more shows, but is holding another talk show in Macau in July. If there is good response, he will consider performing overseas and other countries: "There aren't as many restrictions in Macau. When the time comes, I'll be using more profanity in the talk show! However I won't consider holding a talk show in Mainland." When asked how he's going to make up to his wife? He said: "Take good care of myself and her, that would be enough! (Your wife cried?) She feels sinful, it's not tears of happiness, but rather she knows she has her own hardships."
