  • 2.25 MCIP 2013 Results Called Unfair
The newly crowned Miss Chinese International Pageant winners, Gloria Tang, Denise Tan, Carat Cheung, Lauran Weisberger, and Jessica Song went nonstop to claim their sponsored awards yesterday. Seniors Christine Kuo (苟芸慧) and Kayi Cheung (張嘉兒) were invited to attend the event as well. Criticisms say that the pageant's production was bland this year, as there were no guest performers invited and too much show time in swimwear involved. In Vancouver, Gloria said that they were asked to perform a dance dressed in swimsuit, so it was nothing extreme when compared to MCVP. Carat Cheung does not feel that she exposed herself too much during the final.

Gloria Tang Hopes to Work with Steven Ma

Christine praised Carat's body figure and that she must wear a swimsuit to show it out. She worried that the show would run overtime if there were a guest performer instead.
Gloria revealed that she had a sleepless night over her win. With one more year of her undergraduate studies before graduation, she has not set out her future plans yet. Personally, she is interested in hosting and filming series. Gloria would like to costar with Steven Ma if given the chance to act.

Carat Cheung Not Disappointed Over Lost

Carat Cheung (张名雅) denied rumors saying that she was disappointed over her lost in champion. Since the period of the pageant was short, she often forgot that she is contestant number five and would not like to walk out to accept the title by mistake. Carat stressed that she showed a happy face during the announcement. Having participated in three beauty pageants, Carat managed to win a top placement in all of them.
She frankly admitted that she worked her way around for a better body figure to carry out the costumes better. However, she never thought about taking the sexy route. Her bottom line of sexiness would depend on the occasion. She wore a swimsuit as her self-selected costume to feel special and surprising.
The pageant's finale averaged to 21 points, with approximately 135 million viewers. The Bureau of Communication received five complaints: results were unfair, inappropriate use of language, misleading the audience to believe that belly dance originated from India, and not providing translation when needed.

At the time Wai Jai's management company said that he has not signed any contract. His wife Carina Lau Ka Ling also pointed out that Wai Jai will indefinitely postponed the film. Yesterday the film's Japanese production company announced its bankruptcy.

The production company Prenom-H on the 20th filed for bankruptcy at the Tokyo District Court. The company's current debt was around 640 million yen. Prenom-H last year decided to make 1905 and invited Leung Chiu Wai and Atsuko Maeda to perform. It planned to build large scale exterior sets in Taiwan and Japan and an Autumn nationwide release in Japan. With the unexpected China and Japan relation deterioration, Leung Chiu Wai was rumored to have backed out and the production progress came to a halt, the company announced its bankruptcy.

Stephen Fung Tak Lun and Shu Qi's rumor has always caught attention, they have even been rumored to be secretly married. Fung Tak Lun yesterday attended a "HBO GO" press conference and continued to deny the rumor as usual. "No such thing! We were rumored to go on a holiday together? We didn't either. I rarely share my love life, since I don't want to mention dating. Even in the future when I wed I might not publicize it, but right now I am really not." He said that life was happy now. During the Lunar New Year he took time and met up with friends.

Speaking of Shu Qi's new film JOURNEY TO THE WEST: CONQUERING THE DEMONS (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN), Fung Tak Lun praised it as fully entertaining. The film's director Stephen Chow Sing Chi seemed to be very fond of Shu Qi. He calmly replied, "Many people would be 'sweet' on her. Do I feel threatened by Chow Sing Chi? Some of it is film promotional technique, providing a point for everyone to write about. I too am in the film industry, so I understand it very wel! l." As for some of the film being accused of copying from a Japanese video game, he said, "I am not certain whether it was plagiarism, but sometimes the process would be under the influence of other external elements. That's not surprising." Fung Tak Lun revealed that he is discussing a project with Hollywood. In the middle of next year he will begin his new film in Beijing. In the future his subjects will target the world market.
  • [2013.02.26] LEE LIK CHI CRITICIZES JOURNEY TO THE WEST FOR THE LACK OF NO CLASSIC LINE
    courtesy of singtao.com
    courtesy of mingpao.com

Director Lee Lik Chi yesterday was an instructor of ATV performing art training project. He said that he remembered where he came from. Because ATV made a low offer to him, he only took symbolic transportation cost. He said, "It's still the Lunar New Year, whatever!"

Lee Lik Chi said that he would share his experience with Stephen Chow Sing Chi, but he criticized his Lunar New Year film JOURNEY TO THE WEST: CONQUERING THE DEMONS (SAI YAU GONG MOR PIN). He said, "Next time he has difficulty with dialogue, he could ask me and Tin Kai Man. The movie only has '300 Children's Songs' as a classic line. THE GRANDMASTERS (YUT DOI JUNG SI) had several classic lines. He has many talented people and brain trusts around him, he didn't even ask someone to think about the dialogue. He shouldn't overlook Hong Kong because he became a political consultant." He felt that JOURNEY in comparison to other class a movies was considered great, but for a Chow Sing Chi movie it was disappointing."

It's not all glitz and glamour in the life of a TVB actor, as it revealed through the life of small-time actor Eric Lee.

Reporters who went undercover to the Thai massage parlour witnessed firsthand how Eric caters to patrons, from answering phones, scheduling appointments, selling massage packages to serving tea. When asked if he was an actor from recent TVB series, "The Day Of Days", he bashfully answered, "I'm just helping out."
Meanwhile, a customer of the massage parlour revealed that the actor has been working at the place for several months and would come more often when there are no acting jobs.
The source claimed, "I heard that this parlour was opened by his ex-girlfriend and she wanted to help him out since his salary at TVB is so low. He makes HKD 50 an hour here, which is higher than the required minimum wage, so he can pull in some decent income if he works nine hours a day."

TVB's Miss Chinese International Pageant was successfully held at TVB City, Tseung Kwan O tonight. The awards were given to the following winners: Gloria Tang (champion), Denise Tan (first runner-up), Carat Cheung (second runner-up), Jessica Song (Star of Tomorrow Award), and Lauren Weisberger (Miss Friendship).

Carat Cheung (Hong Kong) exposed her chest throughout the segments of the final. She wore a low-cut evening gown during the opening ceremony, which appeared to be more revealing that the other contestants. Her costume for the Lantern Festival, Q&A, and talent performance appeared sexy-looking. She bootlicked Kenneth Ma during that Q&A session, saying that she is really attracted to him. Nonetheless, Carat only managed to place third in the pageant, showing a disappointed face when the results were announced.
Carat revealed that she was not disappointed over the results and is, in fact, happy to win an award. She also thanked Hong Kong citizens for giving their support. Speaking of her revealing costumes, she explained that it was arranged by TVB and it would turn out to be a boring show if all the girls dressed identically. (Are you afraid of fearing Kenneth away?) Carat said, "He is handsome and talented. I have always been his fan. (Would you ask him out on a date?) I hope to have the opportunity to work alongside with him, but I do not date to ask him out."

Jessica Song Won Points with Talent Performance

Cynthia Qiu (Foshan) and Jacky Choi (Melbourne) made strong attempts to win points during the Lantern Festival segment by playing uniform temptation. However, neither of them was as odd-looking as Vivian Li (NY) who wore a Snow White costume. Jessica Song (Toronto) secured top five spot with her dance performance and eventually won the Star of Tomorrow Award.
Gloria Tang (Vancouver) simply wanted to gain experience through this pageant, and never thought about winning awards, thus she is very happy with the results. She was the most satisfied with her talent performance, and is the most confident about her smile.

  • TVB News: Myolie Wu Gets Intoxicated From Drinking Milk; Kenneth Ma Accidentally Calls Myolie "Nancy Wu"

Myolie Wu Gets Intoxicated From Drinking Milk; Kenneth Ma Accidentally Calls Myolie "Nancy Wu"
Yesterday Myolie Wu, Nancy Wu, JJ Jia, Kenneth Ma and Oscar Leung promoted for TVB series Season of Love. After the promotion, Myolie has to fly over to Beijing for work. When asked if she's rushing over to see her Mainland rumored boyfriend? She said: "Who? Don't speak nonsense. I'm not hurried to be in a relationship, leave it to fate!" Last night, Myolie reportedly intoxicated herself at good friend Nancy Wu's house? Myolie laughed: "I didn't drink, just coincidentally the reporter took pictures of me catching the taxi with squinted eyes. I already explained on Weibo. All I drank that night was milk. Fans teased me too, milk can't intoxicate people, just people intoxicate themselves. (Still single, feeling really worried?) No, I'm very happy! Aide from love, friendship is really good too, that night Nancy cooked up big feast for me. (Friends are in relationships, you don't envy them?) Can't rush these things, leave it to fate! (Did Nancy introduce any guys to you?) Not deliberately, I really don't have those plans. (Do you mind if it actually happens?) No, just like meeting a new friend, but why are you all so anxious! (Because you've been hurt before, you don't dare to date again?) No, really just leave it to fate."

Nancy praised Myolie is doing very well, both physically and mentally, she doesn't need to introduce guys to her. Just be natural and that can attract excellent guys. Has Myolie been resisting? "No, she had always been career-oriented. In the past, she really worked too hard, I told her that she needs time to have her own life. After all, we are over 30, no matter where our career is now, we still have to think about marriage, having kids and starting a family. We cannot just incline towards our career, there needs to be a balance. Myolie is doing very well now, let nature take its course."
Kenneth joked during the Lantern Festival, he had several girl friends accompany him. He also thanked the media for giving him so many rumored girlfriends, Natalie Tong, Rebecca Zhu and Eliza Sam. He laughed: "My mom thought it was so easy to meet girls. (Who does your mother choose?) She's not as concerned about my love life as the media is." However, he does hope people don't misunderstand because the girls may not think he's a 'suen poon'. Among the three, which one is suitable to be Kenneth's actual girlfriend? He laughed: "The 3 of them are very good. If the media continues to write about us, it won't get anywhere. There will be lots of peach blossoms, but none of them are true." Also, at the promotion Kenneth accidentally called his on-screen girlfriend "Ting Yan" (Nancy), which is actually suppose to be Myolie, looks like he hasn't forgotten about his ex-girlfriend yet and Myolie had to correct him. What an embarrassing situation!
JJ Jia exposed she has a passionate kiss scene with Oscar Leung in the series, and even now she can still remember the taste. Oscar teased JJ asking if her boyfriend Louis Fan could feel it? Asked JJ if her boyfriend is jealous? She expressed: "No, but that scene really left a deep impression. We had to do the kiss scene on the first day of work. It is the most kissing I've ever done. I told him (boyfriend) after we finished the scene. (Did you're b! oyfriend ask you to do it another time?) Cheh, not necessary. This only happens in acting."
