Plot
Wu Tao is a taxi driver in the Chinese city of Chongqing and one night drives his taxi into the Yangtze river, killing himself and injuring his passenger Su-dan. Wu Tao's widow Li take Su-dan who has a broken leg and potentially paralysed for life into their home to fulfil their obligation. Li's son Xian resents Su-dan at first but gradually warms towards her. Su-dan is confined to a wheel chair and accepts Li as her new little brother. Li is a factory worker but she moonlights at an animal hospital to make ends meet. While working at the hospital she starts a romance with a handsome man who brought in his injured dog.
