A North Texas mom donated enough pumped breast milk to break the Guiness World Record. As KDBC puts it...
“Why cry over spilled milk, when you can donate it. That's what one Texas mom did and now she holds the Guinness world record for the most breast milk donated.”
“Alicia Richman pumped, stored and donated more than 86 gallons of breast milk after her son was born last year. Once she had enough to fill two freezers she donated some to a milk bank that helps feed premature babies.”
Richman donated her breast milk to The Mother’s Milk Bank of North Texas. New York Daily News reports she gave enough milk to help a lot of babies...
“Just three ounces of milk is enough to feed a premature infant nine times, said Amy Vickers, executive director of the Mothers’ Milk Bank. ‘Alicia’s generous gift of human milk has fed hundreds, and more likely, thousands of premature babies across the United States.’”
The Huffington Post reports...
“Richman says she went for the Guinness record because she wanted to raise awareness for the cause and encourage other women to donate to milk banks.”
“I always joke and said I was a dairy cow, that's how I felt.”
Richman said she planned to break her own record for most milk donated when she has a second child.
