Justin Lee has been sentenced to 14 Years in Prison

Justin Lee’s (李宗瑞), the son of Taiwanese millionaire who made headlines in August 2012 for a drug rape case involving many A-Level Taiwanese female stars, was sentenced to 14 years in prison. The guilty verdict came on October 19th after Justin Lee has admitted to purchasing date rape drugs online, which he purportedly also used on his own stepmother, who is also one of his drug-facilitated rape victims[1]:
Throughout the trial, Justin’s defense was that the women in the video tapes had engaged in consensual sex with him. Faced with the witnesses’ testimonies and the mounting evidence–including retrieved samples of the date rape drugs found as his residence–Justin finally admitted the drugs were purchased online.
It was reported that Justin has videotaped 93 videos of his sexual activities with a total of 50 women, in which some of the women were taped on more than one occasion. Although the police were able to identify some of the victims, only 13 of them decided to press charges. The District Prosecutors’ Office urged more victims to come forward, if the video was shot without their knowledge or if they believe they were drugged.[1]
The Justin Lee sex photos and videos scandal broke out when Next Magazine reported that Justin Lee has raped many celebrities and filmed the act. Later Taiwanese police revealed that they have been investigating Justin Lee since July 2011 for suspected date rape and filming of his sexual acts. According to Taipei Times, "prosecutors began pursuing the case in July last year, when a pair of twin sisters accused Lee of drugging and raping the elder sister and filming the process". Justin Lee has insisted at that time that the women had consensual sex with him. But after further investigation, the police unearthed Justin’s pornographic collection with close to 50 celebrities, models and A-list actresses among them.
Many of the sex photos and videos from Justin Lee's rape collection has leaked to internet.
Police was criticized for leaking of the contents
The most famous victim of the scandal was Taiwanese model and actress Maggie Wu Ya Xin. Although she has appealed the public not to distribute the photos and videos, the cyberspace was quickly littered with many photos and videos of her and other women. In total 176 nude photos and 93 sex videos surfaced. Maggie Wu has since disappeared from public eye but did not press any charges against Justin Lee with whom she has dated back in 2004.[2]

Previously, popularasian.com has reported that Justin Lee faced up to 30 years in prison. According to the article, Justin Lee’s parents were blackmailed by the triads and police who had threatened to expose their son’s sex photos and videos. Justin Lee’s family reportedly paid millions of Taiwan dollars to the extortionists but stopped paying the astronomical amount in May. Since then, more and more Justin Lee’s sex photos and videos have circulated in online forums.[3]

12 arrested over Justin Lee photo leaks

Updated Saturday, September 8, 2012 0:03 am TWN, The China Post news staff

The China Post news staff--Police yesterday arrested 12 people, including several university students, for allegedly distributing sex images recorded by date-rape suspect Justin Lee, officials said.

Police officers raided several premises in various parts of Taiwan, including a dormitory in Tainan, where the university students were nabbed, the officials said.

The 12 suspects were later referred to prosecutors for further questioning on charges of hurting social morality and disclosing secrets without authorization, the officials added.

The criminal charges carry with them maximum imprisonment of five years.

Law enforcement authorities have been tracking online distribution of photos videos allegedly taken by Lee to protect the victims in the date-rape case.

The Taipei District Prosecutors Office said disseminating images of sexually abused women would cause further harm to the victims.

Prosecutors warned that downloading the images online through certain software programs will automatically upload them again to the Internet, causing further dissemination of the content.

Meanwhile, prosecutors are still questioning Lee over his alleged crimes.

The suspect still denies that he had drugged and raped the women he had filmed. He insisted it was consensual sex and they agreed to be filmed, according to the United Evening News.

His attorney, Wen Wen, had prosecutors play the videos during the questioning trying to back Lee's claims, the paper added.

But prosecutors challenged his claims, citing testimonies by the victims, the paper said.

Several women have reportedly come forward to accuse Lee of rape, but prosecutors have not disclosed the exact number of possible victims.

Lee has been detained since surrendering to police on Aug. 23. He went into hiding in late July after the images he had taken were widely circulated on the Internet.

His attorney, Wen, disclosed that Lee's parents, worried about his conditions in the detention center, had asked to send him meals.

But Lee, who is denied visitations, except from his attorney, told his parents that the detention center's food was good enough, Wen said.

Lee was seen wearing a surgical mask and a white shirt while being escorted from the detention center to the prosecutors office. He was remanded in custody following questioning.

Justin Lee (李宗瑞), a socialite wanted for allegedly drugging and raping several celebrities and other women, and allegedly filming the acts, was taken into custody yesterday.
Lee, accompanied by three lawyers, turned himself in to prosecutors on Thursday evening after spending more than three weeks on the run.
The 27-year-old denied the accusations against him, saying the sexual activities with the women were consensual and that he did not secretly film the acts or circulate any photographs and videos of him engaging in sexual acts with women.
The statement was not considered plausible by prosecutors.
The Taipei District Court early yesterday approved a petition by prosecutors to keep Lee in custody.
Lee, the son of former Yuanta Financial Holdings (元大金融控股公司) board member Lee Yueh-tsang (李岳蒼), was first accused in July last year of drugging a woman in a nightclub, taking her home and raping her. He allegedly videotaped the entire act.
However, he was released by prosecutors after questioning on that occasion because of a lack of substantial evidence.
As more accusations emerged against him this year, prosecutors placed him on a wanted list on Aug. 1 after he repeatedly failed to show up for questioning.
Police and investigators reportedly discovered scores of explicit videos involving more than 40 women, on a computer seized at Justin Lee’s home.
Some photographs, believed to have been captured from the videos, were later found posted on the Internet.
