Trailer released for Jay Chou’s second directorial project
The RooFToP's trailer opens with a fighting scene and features several other fast-paced action scenes, showing off a distinct "Chou style" with its retro setting combined with colourful and vibrant costumes.
In addition to acclaimed Chinese actor Wang Xueqi, veteran Hong Kong actor Eric Tsang will also appear in the film. The female lead, whose identity has been kept a secret, also made her first appearance in the trailer.
The multi-tasking director shares brotherhood ties with Taiwanese singer-actor Alan Ko in the movie, and a scene where the two headed to the bathhouse together had the real-life buddies flaunting their topless bodies.
In regard to the "abs competition" with Jay, Alan admitted that it was very stressful, saying, "Though I train regularly, seeing his [Jay's] perfectly toned body made me feel inferior."
On the other hand, Jay explained that the characters in his movie are childhood friends who grew up together and to display the "bromance" and chemistry, they have to "strip and fight as one".
"The movie is filled with a refreshing and joyful atmosphere, and hopefully it will give the audience a delightful surprise," said the multi-talented artiste, who hopes to replicate the success of Secret with his new film.
The RooFToP is slated to be released in June this year.
