Veronica Yip makes showbiz comeback after 16 years
The retired Hong Kong artiste has expressed her interest to star in upcoming Lunar New Year film
Former Hong Kong screen siren, Veronica Yip will make a comeback after retiring from the showbiz industry for 16 years.
Veronica had her career breakthrough after acting in several adult films in Hong Kong. She diverted her career paths soon after and gained her popularity as a singer and an actress for mainstream movies. She was also being nominated as the "Best Actress" previously in the prestigious Golden Horse Awards and Hong Kong Film Awards.
The 45-year-old announced her retirement from the entertainment industry when she married wealthy Chinese-American businessman, Jeffrey Wu in 1996.
Veronica has since moved to New York with Jeffrey and assisted him in managing his supermarket chain of business. The couple has a daughter and two sons.
After being persuaded by good friends, actress Sandra Ng and TVB executive Virginia Lok, Veronica finally agreed to return to the big screen and star in upcoming Lunar New Year film, I love Hong Kong 2013. She will be portraying as the wife of Hong Kong veteran singer, Alan Tam in the movie.
The director has also confirmed on the good news, commenting, "[Veronica] has not signed any official documents, but she has verbally agreed to take on the role."
It is believed that Veronica will be returning to Hong Kong with her family in December so that she can film for the movie while visiting her 89-year-old mother and relatives there.
