The Beatles Headed Back to Top 40 on Billboard 200
The Beatles are headed back to the top 40 of the Billboard 200 albums chart with its latest release, the new iTunes-exclusive compilation "Tomorrow Never Knows." Based sales forecasts from industry sources, Billboard projects that the album may sell around 10,000 to 15,000 copies by week's end on July 29.
The set collects 14 classic rock songs by the band and marks the first time the Beatles have released an album exclusively to iTunes that had never been previously issued.
As for the top 10 next week, it should be a fairly quiet one. Either Nas or Zac Brown Band will be No. 1 with their respective sets, "Life Is Good" and "Uncaged." They are both aiming to sell around 45,000 to 50,000. If either one claims a figure in that region at No. 1, it will be the lowest sales week for the No. 1 set since the chart dated Feb. 19, 2011. That was when Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" climbed to No. 1 with 45,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Passion Pit, 'Gossamer': Track-By-Track Review
While there will be little excitement at the top of the chart, the top 10 will host a couple new arrivals in the form ofPassion Pit and the Gaslight Anthem. The latter's "Handwritten" is on course for a start around 35,000 to 40,000 while Passion Pit's "Gossamer" will do near 30,000.
On Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart (below), Passion Pit is No. 1 while Gaslight Anthem is No. 4. Zac Brown Band is No. 2 and Nas is No. 3. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants.
The "Kidz Bop 22" album is No. 5, One Direction's "Up All Night" is No. 6 and Justin Bieber's "Believe" is No. 7. Frank Ocean's "Channel Orange" sits in the No. 8 spot, Adele's "21" is No. 9 and Maroon 5's "Overexposed" closes out the top 10 at No. 10.
