Yang Zhenning and his young wife visit college in Dongguan
Chinese-American Nobel Laureate of Physics Yang Zhenning (杨振宁) visited Dongguan Institute of Technology, as its honorary president, with his young wife Weng Fan hand in hand on April 27. He stayed over 10 minutes in front of the school’s Library building, which bears his writing, to take photos and autograph his books to students before leaving.
In fact, Thursday was the 20th anniversary of the founding of Dongguan Institute of Technology. The Nobel Laureate was also there delivering a speech and attending the celebration ceremony.
It was learned it was the forth time that Yang Zhenning visited the Institute since he was appointed as its honorary president in 1993.
Yang Zhenning, born in 1922 in Hefei, Anhui, received the 1957 Nobel prize in physics together with Lee Tsung-dao.
In 1964, Yang became a US. citizen. And in 2004, he became the object of controversy when marrying Weng Fan, who is 54 years younger than him, after his first wife died in 2003.
