They are noted for their elegance and fashion sense, but in PETA Asia's eyes, Chinese beauties Carina Lau and Michelle Reis are among the top five worst-dressed female celebrities in Asia.

Other celebrities that are listed are Gong Li, Zhang Ziyi and Eva Huang. No prize for guessing how these actresses find their ways into the list. The stars were criticised by the animal-friendly organisation for wearing fur at different public events.

Last year, PETA Asia wrote a letter to Reis, 41, urging her to give up on fur, reported Apple Daily. What's more, the organisation even compared Gong, 46, to the scheming roles she played in hit movies The Curse of the Golden Flower and Memoirs of A Geisha, claiming that she's even crueler than the characters she played.

"Gong Li should consider giving up fur instead of her citizenship," said the organisation. (Gong famously switched her nationality from Chinese to Singaporean in 2008).

As for Reis, she was referred to as an "once-popular beauty queen" in the statement and described as "morally bankrupt" for wearing fur at numerous events.
