Actress Gao Yuanyuan joins PETA to speak up for seals
Recently, actress Gao Yuanyuan (高圆圆) joined with Hannah Teter, Paul McCartney, Pamela Anderson, Holly Madison, and other international known celebrities for a campaign to appeal for seal protection led by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
Gao Yuanyuan wore a T-shirt printed with a cute baby seal, and slogan that read “Save Seals and Stop Canadian Seal Slaughter,” as a new spokeswoman for the campaign.
Every year, brutal killing of baby seals is taking place in the ice-and-snow covered eastern coast of Canada. To profit from the fur of infant seals, Canadians club or shoot masses of infant seals to death, or even brutally skin them whilst still conscious sometimes.
This year, before the seal hunting begins, PETA invited Gao Yuanyuan as their new spokeswoman to petition against the killing of the baby seals.
Gao Yuanyuan said, Canadian seals are often killed in their earliest period of life (aged three months or younger), some of them even without having ever swum in the sea. The best way to protect seals and other animals is to stop buying fur.
Actress Shu Qi, Barbie Hsu, and singer Karen Mo sent messages on their Weibo accounts too to resonate with the campaign for seal protection.
