Gwen Stefani feels ''guilty'' for being a working mum.
The No Doubt singer - who has sons Kingston and Zuma with Gavin Rossdale - feels bad about leaving her children while she is touring and she admits she had concerns about rejoining the band after an 11-year-break.
She said: ''[I was] getting to the studio and [worrying about] not being able to make it happen and missing out on being at home, missing out on putting the kids to bed. What's more important? I felt so guilty.
''[I thought] I am letting everyone down in the studio right now, I'm letting down my kids; I'm letting down myself. Because time is so precious.''
The 43-year-old star - who has been busy touring and recording the group's new album 'Push and Shove' - says she's found it tough being a parent and she admits it has forced her to grow up.
She told US Vogue: ''It's super fun being a mum but it's not what you think it's going to be. And it's really gradual.
''At first, your life is totally the same. You have this cute little thing that you get to drive around everywhere and it's amazing. As they grow it really does start to change your life. Like, 'Oh, my God, they have school, they have to get through first grade, they have to learn to read.
''When you have a family of your own it forces you to go into the adult world a little bit more.''

Chad Kroeger thinks he and fiancée Avril Lavigne have very different singing voices, but he would still let her perform with his band.
Chad Kroeger jokes he sounds like ''a lawnmower'' compared to ''songbird'' Avril Lavigne.
The Nickelback frontman thinks his voice is particularly grating compared to his fiancée, who he recently worked with on her as-yet-untitled fifth album, but he would still let her perform with his band.
He joked: ''I sound like lawnmower and she's like a songbird. But I think she could stand in for me some nights you know - I'd kick her in the windpipe then send her off on to the stage.''
The 'Rockstar' singer also said he and Avril work fast in the studio, and can write a song in ''a matter of hours''.
He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ''We move so fast, the ideas just start coming so quickly, that's also a lot of fun, you never want it to be slow and arduous and painful.
''It's just nice when everyone gets really excited and it just turns into a steamroller. Within a matter of hours you're sitting there listening to a rough form of the song and everybody is really excited about how it's gonna turn out.''
